      ROOFING

Roofing is your home’s first line of defense against mild to severe elements. When rain, snow, and hail hit, your roof needs to be structurally sound to hold up to Wisconsin's weather.  The roof helps keep the inside of your home safe and dry. Your roof is the highest part of the home, therefore gets hit with high winds and rain first. The roof acts as a shield for the home and protects the interior from moisture.

Roofing COMPONENTS:

The roof is made up of many different components.

  • Decking, the wooden boards that make up the foundation for your roof. This consists of either OSB sheets or planks (1x boards)

  • Gutter apron

  • Drip Edge

  • Ice and Water shield

  • Synthetic paper

  • Starter shingles

  • Valleys

  • Shingles

  • Vents and flashing pipes

  • Ridge Vent/Ridge Cap

  • Flashings

Your roof is a crucial component of the structure of the home. A solid roof will protect the home from wind, and moisture for years to come.

           Siding

Siding is another very important component of the exterior of your home. It keeps your home protected from the weather. Siding is another defense against harsh elements we face here in Wisconsin. It helps protect the home from elements such as moisture, hail, wind, and even heat and cold temperatures. Siding prevents moisture from entering the home; which in turn prevents mold as well. Siding also keeps the home insulated which helps you save on energy costs. Siding also plays a role in protecting the home from insects such as termites. All in all, both the roof and siding are equally important structurally.

Soffit & Fascia

     Soffit & Fascia

Soffit and Fascia  are needed to protect the home from harsh weather elements. They work together to keep moisture out of the home. In Wisconsin it is crucial to try and protect the exterior of your home from rain, snow and ice as best as possible. Soffit and fascia help with ventilation and help to keep moisture away from your roof and attic. When this component is damaged in any way, weather its exposed fascia boards, moisture etc, it can cause leaks inside of the home. It is very important to understand that soffit and fascia damage often causes mold issues. Mold can therefore rot the boards causing excessive exterior and interior damage that may compromise your home's structural integrity in the long run. Soffit and fascia also helps prevent  animals like birds and squirrels from making their way into the home. Properly installed soffit and fascia may help keep the home more energy efficient as well.

Tips For Homeowners

Homeowners can prepare for work to be done on their home by following these simple steps prior to the restoration start date.

  1. Begin by protecting anything around the home that may get damaged from any roofing debris and dust. You may do this by moving items when able to do so and by covering outdoor furniture.

  2. Relocate any items around the outside of the home that are at risk of falling over while the crew is working.

  3. Free up the driveway to allow easy accessibility for roofer’s vehicles. Please consider parking your vehicles on the street during the roofing restoration.  Allow access to outlets for the equipment needed during the restoration.

  4. Talk with members within the home including children to help prepare for loud noises from 7am-7pm. It is important to keep pets contained and refrain from allowing children to play around or near the area while the work is being done  It is very helpful to inform surrounding neighbors a day or two ahead of time as well.
